STEM week
Mon 24 Feb 2025I am excited to tell you that our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) week will be taking place on the week of 10th March this year, where we will be celebrating STEM with schools around the country.
We have planned lots of opportunities for the children to become scientists. There will be investigations, assemblies and lessons that have a science link to them. In addition, we will host our very own Science Fair and winners from this will join a Collaboration Science Fair involving all the TILT Trust Schools.
Our Science Fair will be held on Thursday 13th March and winners from school will be selected. There will be a winner from all classes, Acorn, Birch, Cedar, Elm, Hawthorn, Juniper and Oak. There will be 4 winners who will then attend Minster Primary School on Friday 14th March for the Collaboration Science Fair.
For the Science Fair we are inviting each child to participate by creating a scientific project at home, that will need to be brought into school ready for Thursday 13th March. The project itself can be simple, but it must include scientific explanations including diagrams, pictures, written explanations and/or photos.
Ideas will be shared with children in assembly and there are websites detailed in this letter to support parents and children to create a project.
There is a lot of information online – if you google search ‘science projects for children’. We want the children to enjoy investigating the world around them and believe this is a great way to develop their scientific curiosity and understanding.
Parents are invited to Sunny Bank’s Science Fair on Thursday 13th March at 2:30pm as part of our termly parent open afternoon. This will be held in the main hall and entrance will be via the main entrance. We had such a fantastic number and range of projects entered last year and would like even more this year.
Thank you in advance as always for your continued support as partners in our children’s education.
Kind regards,
E Johnson

Our CEO, Debbie Rousell has been shortlisted in the ‘CEO of the Year’ category at the National MAT Awards 2025! She has been selected alongside other CEOs from multi-academy trusts across the UK.
The award will recognise a CEO who ensures and demonstrates outstanding best practice within a multi-academy trust.
Howard Fisher, Chair of the Trust Board, commented “We are absolutely thrilled to share the exciting news that our esteemed CEO, Debbie Rousell, has been shortlisted as a finalist for this highly prestigious award. This recognition is a testament to her exceptional leadership, dedication, and the incredible impact she has made within our Trust and wider communities. We couldn’t be prouder of her achievements, and we look forward to celebrating this well-deserved news!”

A huge congratulations to Debbie for this prestigious shortlisting. The National MAT Awards are organised by The Multi-Academy Trust Association (MATA). The award winners will be announced on 6 March 2025.
