Mrs Dadd is moving on to a new adventure
Tue 26 Mar 2024I am writing to inform you that, Mrs Dadd will be leaving us at the end of this term as she has decided to focus her teaching in a different area.
We are sad to see Mrs Dadd leave. She has been part of the journey of Sunny Bank Primary School and welcomed so many of our nursery and reception children into our school over the years on the start of their educational journey.
I know that you will all want to join me in thanking Mrs Dadd for her significant contribution to the learning of all of our children over the years and in wishing her well on her onward journey.
I am pleased to also inform you; that Miss Michel will be returning as EYFS leader to take over as main class teacher for Acorn class after Easter. Miss Michel is an experienced leader who has taught at Sunny Bank previously. She has worked with Mrs Dadd this year in our Early Years setting, knows our children well, will ensure that the high standards of education that we expect within the Island Learning Trust will continue and that our children will thrive and make excellent progress.
Miss Michel will be job sharing with Mrs Harland. Mrs Harland has taught in EYFS at Sunny Bank and is a very experienced Early Years teacher. I know that you will join me in welcoming both teachers to our school.
We have been putting plans in place to ensure this strong continuity of teaching and I wanted to ensure that the forward plan was firmly in place before informing parents.
Both Miss Michel and Mrs Harland will be outside the EYFS at the end of the school day today, for parents who haven’t already met them. Please do come and say hello.
If you have any questions around this, please do speak to me or a member of our SLT.
As always, I thank you in advance for your understanding and your support as partners in our children’s education.

Parents Easter Open Afternoon
Mon 25 Mar 2024I am delighted to invite parents to this terms parent open afternoon on Wednesday 27th March 2024. This terms activities will be planned around Easter activities and creating some spectacular Easter bonnets.
We are inviting parents to come in and take part in a craft workshop in your childs class to create some Easter bonnets for our bonnet parade on 28th March 2024. It is a fantastic opportunity to join in some fun activities with your child and we encourage as many parents as possible to attend.
For the Easter bonnet making, parents will be able to enter the school at 1.30pm via the side gate where parents will then be shown to the children’s classrooms. For those who have more than one child in the school we ask that the time is split between siblings and that the parents visit the youngest siblings class first. Teaching Assistants will guide the adults to the other sibling’s classes when required.
Parents will be able to take their children home from 3pm and will be required to sign them out with the class teacher. For any children whose parents are unable to attend the normal school end time will apply.
Please do not worry if you cannot make it this time, the children will still be able to create a bonnet in class with their friends and staff or you can create your masterpiece at home to bring in.
On Thursday 28th March is our bonnet parade. The children will be showcasing their magnificent designs to the whole school and a competition will be taking place. There will be a prize for the best bonnet, one in each class. Unfortunately, there will be no parents at the parade, but we will be sure to take as many photos as we can.
As always, I thank you in advance for supporting the school as partners in our children’s education. I look forward to seeing you all on the 27th March.
Kind Regards
Mr Allen
