  • Introducing The Six Principles Of Nurture

Wed 26 Jun 2024 Miss Loughnane

We are delighted to introduce The Six Principles Of Nurture. These principles guide our approach to creating a supportive and enriching environment for all children at Sunny Bank. These principles are central to our commitment to fostering the emotional, social and academic development of every child. We believe that by adhering to these principles, we can ensure that each child at Sunny Bank feels safe, valued and understood.

    The Six Principles Of Nurture

Sunny Bank classrooms offer a safe base

Our classrooms are designed to be safe havens where children feel secure and supported. This stable environment allows them to explore, learn and grow with confidence.

We understand the importance of transition in our lives

Transitions can be challenging, whether they are between activities, academic levels or life stages. At Sunny Bank, we provide guidance and support to help children navigate these changes smoothly.

Nurture is important to our well-being

Nurturing relationships are key to emotional well-being. We prioritise creating positive connections between the children, teachers and all staff to promote sense of belonging and happiness.

    All behaviour is communication

We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication. By understanding and interpreting behaviours, we can address the underlying needs and provide appropriate support.

Language is a vital means of communication

Effective communication is essential for learning and relationships. We emphasize the development of language skills to help children express themselves clearly and confidently.

    Our learning is understood developmentally

We appreciate that each child develops at their own pace. Our teaching strategies are tailored to meet the developmental stages of our children, ensuring that learning is meaningful and accessible to all.

These principles reflect our dedication to nurturing the whole child, we aim to empower our children to thrive both academically and emotionally. Together we can ensure that every child at Sunny Bank feels safe, supported and ready to reach their full potential.

  • Sports Week

    Thu 20 Jun 2024

We are delighted to announce that, as per our yearly calendar on our website, our sports week is being held on week commencing 1st July. During this week the children will all be involved in lots of different sporting activities.

This year, our annual sports day will be held on Wednesday 3rd July. We know that it is sometimes difficult, however, we strongly encourage as many parents as possible to come along and support the children. Not only do the children love having their parents there watching them but it also really helps the children to develop that sense of community.

The children will take part in a range of different activities within their classes, and you will be able to watch and encourage the children on as they attempt the different events.

Please can you ensure the children bring their PE kits and a bottle of water to school. We would also kindly ask that sun cream is applied in the morning and a sun hat can be worn if you wish.

Sports day start times for the year groups are set out below:

    Year R will start at 9: 30

Birch and Cedar class will start at 10:00

Hawthorn, Juniper and Oak class will start at 11:00

Parents and carers should come through the main gate at the front of the school on the day. We look forward to seeing you all on 3rd July.

    Kind Regards,

    Mr Allen
