At Sunny Bank Primary our vision is to provide a science curriculum that ignites curiosity, inspires learning and transforms thinking.
We believe in equality of access, and endeavour to unlock pupils’ potential for future life choices. We allow children time and freedom to explore, investigate and challenge their own views and interests. We see mistakes as an opportunity for new learning and to investigate a different way of thinking. Our curriculum offers practical ‘hands-on’ experiences, opportunities for outdoor learning within our school grounds and Forest School as well as a chance for our children to consider how their actions will effect their future.
We ensure that our children are motivated, confident, life-long learners who will continue to explore and respect the world around them, way beyond their time at our school.
We enjoy learning science through experiments and outdoor activities with a range of different ways of recording our work such as photos, drawings, and written tasks. Lots of our learning can be found in our Curriculum Floor Books or our science books.
We take part in Science Week, where we explore different aspects of science and all children have the chance to enter our amazing Science Fair where they create their own experiments! The winners then go to Halfway Houses to showcase their amazing efforts.
