  • Has your income dropped significantly due to Covid 19?

    Thu 26 Nov 2020

With many people having their income hit by coronavirus and claiming benefits for the first time, you may not be aware that your child could be entitled to free school meals. (This isn't to be confused with universal infant free school meals, available to all school children from reception to year two). However, it is still worth applying, as the school receives extra funding to support eligible pupils throughout school, even if your financial circumstances change.

    Who is eligible?

Your child will typically be able to get free school meals if you fulfill the criteria in the following two steps:

Step 1. You are claiming one of these benefits:

    · Income support

    · Income-based jobseeker’s allowance

    · Income-related employment and support allowance

    · Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

    · The guaranteed element of pension credit

    · Child tax credit

    · Working tax credit/working tax credit run-on (1)

    · Universal credit

    · In England and Wales you can't get free school meals if you get working tax credit - you can only qualify with the 'working tax credit run-on'.

Step 2. You are earning below a certain amount:

    · If you receive universal credit, you can earn up to £7,400/year (in total earnings).

    · If you receive child tax credit (but not working tax credit), you can earn up to £16,190/year.

    To apply:

    · You can apply here: https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/kent/ or

    · Contact the School Office or Mrs Newbury - Family Liaison Officer if you need any help applying.

  • Hedgehog House!

    Thu 26 Nov 2020

We were very lucky to have been offered a free hedgehog house to have in our lovely grounds. 3 children helped me to find a sensible and suitable place for it in the undergrowth, during our forest school session.

We are hoping to help the Hedgehogs throughout the winter months and are keen to help hedgehog numbers increase.

The children did a great job collecting lots of autumn leaves to put on top to hide the house and make it nice and safe for them.

    We were all very excited!

We are currently working on a home learning contingency plan and hope to have this live on Monday. This will be available for any children who may need to self isolate at home, should we need to send any bubbles home or should we need to close the school in the future. We will ofcourse communicate any further information to you as and when needed.

    Thank you.

  • Library Books

    Mon 09 Nov 2020
We have spent a lot of money on new books last term for the school library and it is lovely to see so many of you reading these! Please can you make sure that you bring your books back as soon as you have completed a quiz as we have lots of books missing. We want everyone to enjoy the books so it is important to bring them back - check book bags, cars, bedrooms etc just in case. Thank you and continue to enjoy our awesome library!
