Recently, Sunny Bank Primary School has undergone a complete transformation with the completion of the £4 million building project. We now have a new nursery, reception and Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 building, two outdoor learning classrooms and a new special school satellite alongside the significant improvements in the quality of provision for our children.

To mark this amazing transformation, we are going to be hosting a grand opening week with lots of special events and as a vital part of our school community we would like to invite parents to join in our celebrations and support us in giving our school and our children the celebration that they deserve.

I have listed below the events that parents are invited to come along to and for those which we need your support.

Creation of Word Cloud Art

We are asking parents to contribute to a piece of art in the form of a word cloud, to be unveiled as part of our Grand Opening Ceremony. All you have to do is follow the link and answer two questions. https://forms.office.com/r/J4VH0BjFEp . Please could parents complete this by Thursday 3rd November, in order for this to be produced on time.

Parent Open Afternoon Art Installation (Tuesday 15th November 14:00 – 15:00)

A parent open afternoon will be held on Tuesday 15th November from 14:00 till 15:00. We are going to create an art installation to commemorate this transformation and during this afternoon we are inviting parents to come into school and alongside their children, each paint a pebble to symbolise the building of a strong foundation for change. These pebbles will be kept and placed by children in the art installation as part of the Grand Opening Ceremony.

Community Resident Tours (Tuesday 15th November 15:30 – 17:00)

We are inviting local Murston residents and parents to come for a VIP tour of the school, by our head boy and girls, member of our school parliament and other selected pupils. This way you will get to see our new school through the eyes of our most important stakeholders. All are welcome.

Grand Opening Day (Thursday 17th November 09:00 – 10:30)

Parents are invited to our Grand Opening Ceremony along with other special guests including the Mayor of Swale, the member of parliament for Sittingbourne and Sheppey and the Director of Education for Kent. During this, event children will have the opportunity to lay their pebbles in the art installation for parents and guests to see. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches from key stakeholders.
