Fledglings -Cycle of Support
You may recall that a few months back, I wrote to you with the idea of a Parent Hub, in which a range of services to families and our young people could be offered.
I am grateful for all of your feedback and am pleased to be proceeding with our first event - a Pop Up Shop.
Our Pop-Up Shop is being created in collaboration with Fledglings, which is part of the Contact charity.
Fledglings is ‘your one stop shop for all essential aids for children and young adults with a disability’. Fledglings is a non-profit, online shop which offers:
- Swimwear, including incontinence swimwear
- Adapted clothing and shoes
- Devices to support life at home
- Toileting items
- Bedtime items including bedding
- Learning aids
- Sensory activities
- And much much more!
Our Pop Up Shop will give you the opportunity to view and handle a range of items that will be on display and place orders should you wish. We will have a wide range of items for you to see and you will also be able to view the Fledglings online shop which has thousands of items.
The Pop Up Shop will run for one month from June 17. The shop will be held on the ground floor of our main site on Swanstree Avenue, just past the reception area. In June, the shop will be open during the following dates and times:
Monday, June 17 |
9:30 – 11:30 |
Tuesday, June 18 |
1:30 – 3:30 |
Wednesday, June 19 |
9:30 – 11:30 |
Tuesday, June 25 |
9:30 – 11:30 |
Wednesday, June 26 |

July dates and times will be determined by feedback from parents. I want to make sure that convenient times and dates are available for all of those who wish to visit the shop. Your suggestions for July times and dates will be much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you at our Pop Up Shop where you will be greeted by one of our 6th Formers who will be operating the shop as part of their work experience programme. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to drop into school, chat with other parents, support our young adults who will be doing work experience and of course enjoy a spot of shopping!
Kind regards –

For 25 years Fledglings has been sourcing products
for families with disabled children.
Fledglings is a non-profit shop that helps children and adults with additional needs by supplying products and equipment that help with everyday challenges. They provide an easy and trusted environment to find the right solutions and allow people to connect and share their experiences.
Fledglings was born in 1998 out of founder Ruth Lingard’s passion and drive to help parents and carers of children with special needs find simple solutions to everyday challenges they face. As a special needs teacher and social worker, Ruth had a wealth of experience helping families and children, and Fledglings gave her an opportunity to reach more people in need.
Fledglings is a part of the charity Contact.
As a not for profit shop, every penny spent helps families.
