The vision for reading at Sunny Bank Primary School is that every child leaves this school with a love of reading. Our children understand that reading opens up infinite worlds, experiences and knowledge. Reading incites children to become life-long learners. All children leave Sunny Bank fluent readers, with the skills that they need to progress in the next stage of their journey and in life.

Information about the phonics and reading schemes we use
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a digital program used in UK primary and secondary schools to manage and monitor independent reading. Pupils read books within their personal reading level (ZPD) and take short, in-school quizzes to check understanding, earning points to track progress. It helps improve reading comprehension by encouraging regular reading practice.
