    Pride Week

A celebration of why we are proud of ourselves.

Our school is a proud community that champions inclusion, diversity and equality. We believe every family is unique and we always encourage our children to show kindness, respect and care towards others.

During our first week back to school for term 6, our focus will be on celebrating inclusion and helping children understand how they can be proud of who they are. As a school, we will be encouraging all children to respect and value others, while also recognising their own strengths, achievements and individuality.  As part of the statutory National Curriculum, we will explore how people may be different and how we can treat everyone with fairness and respect.  A key message throughout will be that it is important for every child to feel confident and proud of themselves.

We would love your support by sharing things that your children are proud of on the Sunny Bank Facebook page: this might include achievements at school, at home or in the community, in sports or hobbies.  It could also include pride in family members or being part of a particular group or community.  As always, please ensure that any posts follow our Facebook code of conduct.

On Thursday 4th June, we invite children and family members to dress in bright, colourful clothing for our ‘colours of the rainbow’ parade.  Gates will open at 3.00pm on this day and all family members are invited to watch or join the parade before taking children home at the end of the day.  As part of the parade, children are also welcome to bring in something special to them that makes them feel proud - this could be a medal, a book, an instrument, photographs, artwork or anything that represents who they are and what they value.

For our children and school community to “be the best we can be,” it is vital that we celebrate both our similarities and our differences so that every child feels proud of who they are.  Thank you, as always, for your continued support as partners in your children’s learning.
