With immediate effect, we have removed the Class Chat function that was used by some of our classes at Sunny Bank. Families will still be able to contact their child’s teacher using a direct message which is not visible to others within the class group.

This decision has not been taken lightly. Unfortunately, we have recently seen comments shared on the Class Chat that are not in line with our school values or our expectations for respectful communication. In particular, there have been instances where children have been identified by name and discussed in a way that does not reflect our commitment to supporting every child to “be the best they can be.”

As a school, we are absolutely committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, valued and happy. It is essential that the way adults communicate - both in person and online - reflects this commitment. We cannot allow situations where children are spoken about publicly in a manner that may cause upset or undermine their wellbeing.

We have taken this step to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future and believe that this change will enable us to maintain clear, respectful and professional lines of communication, while continuing to support positive relationships between home and school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
